Bongo Fury

Hi, as I'm one of the unfortunates that doesn't have a spoiler fitted to their Bongo, I am looking to fit a separate LED 3rd Brake Light to mine. But, I have dark tint windows and don't want to scrape/cut out an area on the inside of the rear window to fit an internal light. I've been thinking that I would fit an external one on the top of the tailgate but cannot find one thats listed as being water/weatherproof except in the usa and they don't seem to want to ship them to the uk. Has anyone fitted a brake light as I propose and what did you use please.

There's been a couple of spoilers on ebay lately - don't think they fetch much. BigDaddyCain and others helped DaveBlueOzzie fit a spoiler to his whilst at Charity Farm meeting (of all places!)

hi there Lochan2 depends on how adventorous you are but you could always cut the shape out of your rear bumper in the middle and fit one from behind ????????????????

look at the vans when you are driving....one or two have standard fitment external stoplights .

I've been watching the spoilers on ebay, last one went for about 80 quid...an expensive 3rd brake light and I would also need it colour matched Fitting in bumper is ok but a would like it up high so it can be seen earlier and also again it would need to be waterproof and none of the descriptions say it is

Sorry - didn't watch auction to the end and price was staying low when I last looked. That does change things a bit!

keep looking as one will come up "at the right price" for you have you looked at a roof fitted one? if it has a rubber gasket it should be quite water tight imho

Why not fit a motorbike rear led light and just wire up the stop light. MPS direct do some nice little ones and being designed for bikes they are sealed and waterproof

Hi Lochan2, you seem to have dismissed fitting a stick on 3rd brakelight to the inside of your rear tinted screen. I see your reasoning behind this, however, from experience, i'd suggest that you could still do this if you wished. I have stuck a 3rd brakelight on a previous car with a limo black tinted screen, the light still shines trough the tint just fine,and the adhesive pads on the light don't affect the tint.... I dunno what would happen if you ever tried to remove the light though...

I`ve fitted a hi-level brake light at the top of the rear window in my Freda which has limo tints - it was a Bongo OE one and all I did was draw around the light onto a piece of paper and then cut it out then redrew the line about 8mm inside the original one and cut it out again the placed it on the window and drew around it with a marker then cut around the line with a craft knife and peeled back the area of tint I wanted to remove and cleaned the glass with some white spirt and mounted the light it all blends in so all you can see is the red lense at the top of the screen and it only took about 15 mins to do - hopefully no numpties will run into the back of me now.
