Sadly although my new £109+VAT Starter arrived in less than 24hrs it does not fit

As you can see the fixing plate is different, the middle spindle is bigger, the teeth are bigger and the locking ridges are bigger BUG%*R !

The Top piccy is the new one...

What IS the supplier playing at (taking it back and delivering the right one with no delay or extra postal charges I hope!!!)

This all happened of course at close of play today so I have emailed the supplier these piccys hoping he has correct one to exchange.

Either that or down to Bell Hill and get a recon.. I was hoping for new but there ya go....

Send the photo of the new and old starters next to each other so he can play Spot The Difference.

While you have the starter off, if I'm not too late, perhaps it would be an idea to check those solenoid contacts? It's not too difficult. Just three small srews hold the end of the solenoid in place. Remove those, take off the end cap, and pull out the plunger. Look inside the solenoid casing, and it will be obvious if the contacts are burnt. I got away with cleaning mine up for a while, until I bought new contacts.

Hi Colin, No not too late Dave is going to have a look, he did turn the spindle and it makes a clicking sound like winding a watch and the new one didn't appear to?

Good News ! the nice man MARTIN at Hillmart Alternators and Starter Motors is going to exchange and collect....

He emailed me first thing and I have only just read it and he has the one I need Yippee

Dave thinks maybe he sent a 4x4 one instead ?
