Warm Up System not working

I can't find anything relating to this topic but I'm sure a few of you will jump on me for not looking hard enough
I have the 'Warm Up System' fitting to my beloved Bongo but it doesn't work.... I know what it should do as she is not my first. When I switch it on to speed her revs up on cold days it does nothing. The light comes on on the button and I can hear a 'click' under the passenger seat but that's it!!
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Duncan

Check works or not simple. Put your hand to the exhaust pipe when the motor is working. Let assistant press the button. You feel as a force gases decrease. If this does not happen, then the system is not working.

The flap in the exhaust has been known to be problematic duncan...Perhaps its been removed? If a bongo with the "cold start" set up has needed a new exhaust, chances are a standard item has been fitted.

bugger...
Anyone got any good news?
I am the first owner of my lovely van after it's import and I know our Eastern Cousins are usually pretty thorough with upkeep and I wouldn't have thought they would have done that. I know this is probably a huge generalisation and all....

Yes, as far as I know it's not needed this side of the arctic circle
the usual advice is don't bother with it.
The exhaust valve is missing off mine to but I have altered the
tubing so it raises the tick over but in all honesty I rarely use it.
Not so sure

We have the 'winter pack' and I read the advice that its not needed i the UK - I'm not sure I agree now.
During December and January we have been starting the Freda with the button pressed and it helps a lot.
Without the button in the glowplug lights extinguish in a second or two as normal but we get a load of choking and spluttering from cold - winter pack button in and we start first time and run well.
On ours the valve is definitely still working and we have both batteries in place.
