Bongo is due its first MOT next month
I also need to change the oil

Is it OK to change the oil just before the MOT or do I leave the old oil in (5000 Miles old ) and change it after the mot.
Someone told me that the new oil will affect the omissions :?: :?:

Help

I don't know about the oil but.. onetime our Bongo failed on emissions, we had only 3/4 - 1 mile from home to test center, the mechanic said take it for a drive, went 8 - 10 miles came back and passed retest !
So we warm her up each time now :D

I'd have though just the opposite, (if at all) emissions would be more affected by old oil than new oil.

In theory engine oil should not affect engine emissions at all unless you are burning it.

You could also stick a few litres of cooking oil in too and give her a run to help lower the emissions before the test. Happy motoring.

If I was a newbie and new very little about mechanics, Bongos etc. I would be thinking does he mean put the cooking oil in the sump with the new oil? :?

I think its safe to say that Dave E means add the cooking oil to the fuel in the tank, but make sure you have about half a tank of diesel before you add the oil.
