If yours is chipped, rather than a conversion face replacement, I'd go for that.

If it is chipped try removing the chip. I think only a couple of wires on the back of the speedo.

I had the speedo pack up and the hold light come on - the solution was to tighten 2 screws on the back of the intsrument panel. There's a thread on this but you'll need to search.

My speedo fails every so often, and starts the hold light flashing, and I am now convinced that the chip is the problem, so I plan to replace it as soon as I can find a 626 speedo. Unsuccesful at local breakers so far, but I'm still looking.

Yep, its the chip... Quite a common problem on bongo's, mine's been ok touchwood...first sign of a problem, i'd have to replace the chip...with another chip.... as my white dials cost too much to replace....

Mine plays up intermittently, sometimes just "freezing" at whatever speed i am travelling at. A mate showed me a cure which so far has never failed.
A quick thump on the dash just above where the speedo is, and all should be OK . Not a permanent fix but one that's got me by so far. ;)

if you remove the dials and have a look at the back, you may, or may not, see 3 wires coming from the back, going to a little black plastic box...thats the chip.

if you discover you DO have a chip fitted, try removing the connectors (tiny little nuts [-X ) clean up the connections, then re-fit and retry?

Gotta be worth a punt?
