Guys..
need a bit of urgent advise if ya can.
Just had a new battery fitted to the van, and now it won't start. The garage thinks it's the immobilizer but haven't got a clue where to start (don't ask).
Apparently they've
1 - put the dongle on the sensor
2 - put key in ignition, turned key and waited for glow plug lights to go out.
3 - turned key to start engine but nothing happens.
Any one any ideas??
Thanks Foz

I assume they have tested the starter moter
I think you mean there is a thing you put in a socket to deactivate the imobiliser then start the car
this sounds like what was on my old townace.
now do you have the red deactivator as this is the master and do you have the instructions?
alternativly you will have to take it back to whoever fitted it and/or get it removed, the battery replacement may have spiked it and broke it or wiped the memory

No instructions or red master key

It was all fitted when we bought the van. Guess I'll have to call the AA from the garage

Can you contact who ever sold you the car as they may have the key or at least know the make so you can search for instructions on the net

Foz.Foz,
Had the same with a Golf I have. Try re-connecting the battery with the - negative first then the + positive and make sure you don't make a spark. Try also leaving it for a bit. I hope this is of help.

problem sorted.....
The dozey tvvats had removed/replaced the leisure battery leaving the old knackered one that needed to be replaced still on the van.
No problem with the immobilizer after all.
Put the new battery on (in it's proper place) and it fired up first time.
Guess the lad who fitted it went on the p!ss last night

if you want an immobiliser instruction leaflet for the next time, Foz, send me a PM with your address and I'll scan one into a PDF document and send it to you
