Bongo Fury

there seems to be a lot of talk about these must have coolant alarms for bongo's, now parden my ignorance but can someone explain why the temp gauge wouldn't tell me if the coolant is getting hot.
thinking of buying one anyway but not sure i have the ability to fit the bloody thing.
radiator died on me three weeks ago, so brand new shinny mazda one fitted, no probs before or since with heating or temp.

By the time the temp guage tells you ,if you notice it that is, its prob too late and youve cooked your engine, the guage is not accurate enough.
They are a doddle to fit .if i can do it anyone can.

it is listed in threads gone by that the temp guage reaches 11 oclock and stays there as the temp rises and falls by a scarry amount.

Some have found that the first warning they get to a problem is the head or gasket gone with no signs from the guage of over heating.
others have been more fortunate and have had over heating and suffered no other problems.

It has to be said the temp guage should not be relied on totaly and a manual check should be made regularly.

a coolant alarm will check the level of the coolant not the temp and warn if it falls below a safe level giving the user time to adjust the level before it gets low enough to trouble the temp.

I have fitted both, so I am happy to help with either....or both if you get them?

Still not done either of mine thanks to the late arrival of my Willinton wiring loom and the bl**dy freezing weather we have had in the Scottish Borders for the last week or so.

Arranged to have my coolant hoses replaced at Wheelquick (near my sister's house) on January 6th. If alarms not done by then it looks as though I am going to have half the Bongo Club as well as Wheelquick climbing over my Bongo at this rate.
