Hi (again)
Can somebody clarify how to tell if the Aircon is working correctly. With my old car you could tell the diffrence between Aircon on/off due to the extra load placed on the engine. ie revs drop then picked up as engine took strain of extra mechanical load.

What's normally happens with a Bongo? When I select Aircon on the heater panel (manual heating) the button doesn't light up or seem to have any noticeable effect to the fan speed or engine speed. Is there an easy way to see if it's coming on at all? ie aircon motor kicks in or something.

Mine doesn't seem to affect engine speed much, but I know it's working cos' the air gets bl**dy cold

bit difficult to tell with outside airtemp of -3.

I remember some systems don't even work below a certain outside air temp to prevent over cooling moist air.

On ours you can hear a click as the compressor clutch comes in,
and if you watch the rev counter you can just make out a little
jump, with the engine off but ignition on turn heater to first position
and press air con you should hear the rad fans start up, it may
not start in cold weather depending how cold it is.
Lift bonnet down the front of the rad you will See a small canister
with a little glass window, with air con on and engine on you should
see fluid moving.
If the system needs re gassing it wont turn on to save the compressor,
it wont run if it's too cold and when it is running it cycles on and off as
the temp goes up and down.
