The motor struggles to open the sunroof at certain openings (works but slows and motor note changes). Can anyone help?

Greetings,

Mine does the same. When i first bought the Bongo,i went to Ireland. My mates who are smokers opened the sunroof when thay had a fag,and i think they never closed it properly when it rained.
I later found it very slow to open or close, but im not sure if that was the cause or whether it was like that anyway.
Ive sprayed all around the sides with the long nozzle tube on a can of WD40 and that seems t have helped but it still stops 1/2 way when opening or closing it.
I just wait a minute when it stops then close/open it the rest of the way.
Im not technical minded enough (or at all) to strip it down.

Think it is supposed to stop at half way (mine does and so did my last car).
Or it could be coal dust cloging it.

Try giving the support stays a wipe with a little cooking oil. It's helped mine.. . . . .

Whoops - Just read that as roof not sunroof.

I'll get my coat!

Open the sunroof, stand up with your head through the hole, look down at the sunroof and you'll see the rails/slides. Lubricate them with liquid spray grease, not WDF40 as it dries.
