Cracked Cylinder Head

Hi
I posted under the topic of Anti-Freeze leakage/Overheating in October, but things now seem to be a bit more serious!!
I took the Bongo into to our local garage and had a new thermostat fitted and the radiator flushed and all was well for about another week and a half.

Without any warning it started to overheat again and is booked back into the garage this week, the mechanic seems to think that it could be a cracked cylinder head, which obviously we are hoping it won't be, but if it is where would we get a new cylinder head from? I am going to give him the fact sheets that I have printed off from the site so he can go through these first.

Any advise would be much appreciated - we need to get our Bongo mobile again!!

I may be able to help Tony. I had the same trouble last month & found a gem of a guy in Cleckheaton who did the whole job in a day with a 12 month parts & labour warranty.

Pm me & I'll pass on the details.

Hello
It's as bad as we thought......... Cylinder Head completely gone! Whilst the Bongo is in bits we have decided to take the plunge and get it completely up to date with new Timing Belt etc. But I need to get a top hose, that comes out at the top of the radiator. Any ideas on where I can get one from? I've looked through the parts & accessories list supplied with my membership but can't find hoses listed. Has anybody got any ideas please?

Oh bum! Sorry to hear that Tony. Good luck getting it sorted. Is all the plumbing (including the rad.) up to scratch? You'll want it all 100% when the new head is fitted etc. though I appreciate the cost is a stinger. Good luck getting it sorted.
