Does anybody know if the post '98 facelift Bongos have a fly by wire diesel fuel pump?

There's two on ebay at the moment stating they do - could someone have a look to see if THIS is it.............

Hi Dandy, from memory this is the same pump fitted to my bongo, same electrical gubbins,i will confirm later on, when the oat is above zero and the odd looking monkeys stop asking if i can do brazing.

Thanks Brian. I wonder if it's for better economy, lower emissions or both :-k

Hi Dandy,

I have been able to look at the fuel pump now that the oat has gone up and the temporary cessation of my brazing activities, and can confirm it is the same type.
It is shown on the lushprojects parts cataloque. I dont have my manual to hand but will have a look as soon as possible.

Were you thinking of trying to fit it as a replacement for a pre-98 non fly-by-wire one?

No. I was just curious - didn't know the later Bongo had a more advanced electronic pump - I wonder if it can be chipped :-k - for ecomony, of course 8)

Just search on Ford Ranger with the diesel tuners on the web, as I think all Rangers have the later engine as they were, IIRC, first imported in 1998.

Electronic pump begin on Bongos from september 99. Together with electronic pump installed turbines with variable-geometry and more complex system EGR. For the convergence of the work of these devices electronically controlled pump is needed.

For picture 2. Old pump:
Idle speed (in a warm car) should be 700-780 rpm, the nut is regulated at "XX".

Aperture "A" manages rpm until 800 + -25 under load (aircon, steering, headlights ...)

Aperture "B" manages rpm before 1350 + -150 when warming up. They managed vacuum 53KPa. It's easy to see. Turn the ignition on cold car and rod should be go in the diaphragm.

If there is no vacuum, the diaphragm does not work. And this is just another story.

Screw "A" regulates warming up rpm , screw "B" regulates rpm under load.

Excellent information DeminAV. Do we have a factsheet for this on BF? Dare we risk tinkering with the components DeminAV refers to (tickover screw/nut XX excepted as surely this is not likely to upset anything).
