I still have a short somewhere preventing the rear, front and dashboard lights working - fuse keeps blowing. When I turn them on at the column stick I hear no relay clicking in. Does anyone know if the column switch supplies the circuit directly (seems a lot of current for a small switch) or is there an electronic circuit somewhere that receives the signal from the column and provides the current to the lighting circuit. Has anyone any suggestions where the bloomin short might be? It's drivin be bongas! :?

I seam to remember that someone attached a rear curtain and screwed through the wirers on the rear door.
Have you done anything ? anything at all even if it may seam unrelated that may have caused a short?

Well i took apart the steering column housing - not too difficult, just remove the 3 screws (accessible under the column) and the plastic cowl pulls apart. The light switch is large - I therefore conclude that there is no relay - the column switch does it all.
Still not found short. Could someone tell me what comes on with the side lights switch please. I think it's side lights, heater control lights, dashboard lights, ashtray and gear lights (all of which I have disconnected and still have the short). Is there anything else I haven't checked?

Found it ..... Hurray, Hurray, Kaloo Kalay. The radio circuit ! The radio lights come on with the side lights. The one circuit not checked, I did so and found it easily.
I forgot the golden rule .... if you have a wiring type fault first check any installs or mods that you have done ....stupid!
