Bongo Fury

My bongo 1995 requires a key for to lock each door so no central locking how difficult is it to fit a complete system for remote locking ???

Thanks for the response have now fixed the wiring in the door and now have central locking !

Welcome to the madhouse.
Must admit I thought they all had central locking from the driver's door. May be a broken wire in the loom that goes from that door into the bulkhead - seems a fairly common problem with electric windows so may affect locking as well. Hopefully some knowledgeable person will know the answer.

Same here, I have never heard of a bongo without C/L, after checking the simple things,(Fuses) check as francophile1947 says. the wiring loom etc.

Hi Julian g, When you say a complete system for remote central locking, do you mean a alarm with remote central locking?

I think the underlying cause of your central locking problems would need to be addressed before you go fitting remote locking julian,...

Hi guys, my Bongo also seems to only lock from each door,I hadnt investigated it till now but must admit it does annoy me. I also cannot find a means to adjust the steering wheel and yes I have had loads of cars with this facility so know where to look, there really is no lever there.
It has manual blinds also and non electric mirrors.
I just took it to be a base model but it does have "special edition" on the door panel sticker. When I looked on the models and prices site someone put a link to it was retailed at a lower price than many others at the time so who knows? Buy the way it was advertised on evil bay as having electric mirrors and adjustable steering wheel but as I had travelled from France to collect it and no other means of getting home and of course had paid, wasnt in a very good negotiating position and of course the fuel guage didnt work, and still doesnt!! but thanks to you lot I know how to fix it and will get round to it over winter. Still love it anyway and thanks to the forum and all of you, runs and drives far better now than when I picked it up!!

If anyone does want to fit remote central locking you will have to fit a central locking actuator in the drivers door as bongos dont have one.

Steering wheel Adjustment:

If you have a copy of the Mazda Bongo Friendee Owners Manual, you will find that there is a diagram showing where the steering wheel adjustment is located (underneath the steering wheel column). It says:

1) Push the lever down and adjust the steering wheel up or down until it is in the appropriate positions.

2) Pull the lever back up to lock it into place.

Warning:

Never adjust the steering wheel when driving.

After adjusting the steering wheel, check that they are locked firmly in place before driving.

This may not be relevant Baldeagles but when I fitted my liesure battery I changed the connection to couple of the fuses as pre Pippin's instructions to make the internal lights etc. work from the LB. When I completely flattened the LB by leaving the cool box on all night the central locking,electric blinds, mirrors and lights all stopped working till the LB was recharged.

Mountaingoat,thanks for that, I had read the book when I first got the Bongo, but you made me doubt myself so have just been out and checked again, there is no lever under the steering column!!I also looked at all of the fuses, just in case I had one blown that maybe worked the cental locking and all were ok.Incidentally, when inserting the key, I can only describe it as having a very easy action,as if there is no electric motor there, so without taking off the door card to check for electrics, guess I will have to walk round locking all the doors one by one!!

There isn't one in the drivers door - you have to fit one if you want remote central locking. Actuators should already be in the other doors.

well i never ! .. the one thing that had bothered me about the bongo was the lack of adjustment in the steering wheel !, i had looked but somehow missed the lever until now reading that post ... wow - now its perfect - Brilliant van -brilliant forum - Iz
