Had a look through but could not find an answer in the archives.
I recently fitted a UK stereo by buying a wring converter from Halfords that was marked up as Mazda. Works fine except it does not keep a permanent feed so I loose all my settings etc every time I take the key out. I also appear to only have the front speakers working.
Any ideas ?

The wiring loom converter will keep the same set up as the Jap stereo, ie it will only work with the ignition on. Your stereo should keep it stations thoe, so you might not have the memory wire conected?, this is usally a yellow wire.
To make the stereo live without the ignition on, you will need to swap the ignition live wire for the blue/red wire which is permanent live.
As for the rear speakers not working.............Not all bongos have rear speakers fitted, they were an extra.

Just out of interest, do you have a panasonic ? I only ask as I bought a few of these a while back, and had the same problem. A friend who also had a few said he thought the permanent live and ign live were mixed up.

this is pretty normal with ISO connectors,
the permanent live and ACC live are switched round, it seems ISO standard is only nearly standard,
I think it is something like this
lug
2 1
4 3
6 5
8 7
pin8 - ground
pin4 - permanent live
pin 7 - ACC live
