just a thought, having read that there are quite a few compatible parts for the bongo/freda....why not have an easy to find thread listing such parts rather then having to hunt down the relevant threads ...are you still with me ...then when ever you buy a part ....put the number on the thread , we should end up with a nice easy to find list

I think what Flippa is saying is that there are 'compatible' parts which fit the Bongo but are not Mazda parts. For instance some Ford bits are compatible.
I know in the past when I have been to motor factors and purchased parts for other vehicles, the same part has been listed for another vehicle of a different make.
In other words if members find that parts from other vehicles are compatible with the Bongo then it would be useful to start a list.

But are the Vectra ones compatible? I seem to remember someone posting that the diameter of the stud was different and would required "shimmed" to stop it rattling loose in it's mounting

No, yes, I mean yes, no, I mean they are compatible. I had them fitted to mine quite recently and it was a straight swap - no shims required and they don't rattle or come loose.
I paid about £5-6 per link for the Vectra ones (trade price). And you don't need a part number, any parts supplier or Vauxhall dealer will know what a vectra front drop link is without a part number.
It's for the more unusual compatible parts (like the rear shocks from procomp) where a part number is useful, when the Bongo does not appear in the supplier's book of stock parts.
(That last paragraphs not addressed to you dandywarhol but to the op)

We have a Parts database available for download in the members-only area. This lists compatible parts; it does not list Mazda original parts. If you source a part that is not on the database, let me know, and I will add it. This is what Neil T was referring to I believe

When i got my bongo (2003) cv boots were only available from mazda, (40 odd quid each) And nobody listed a bongo back then for parts.
A helpful chap managed to match a cv boot from a peugeot expert van to my old cv boot, which worked out around £35 cheaper than from the main dealer

could,nt have put it better exactly what i meant steve

ian im not having a go just there are compatible parts that get mentioned on threads and people hunt high and low 6 months later its like looking for a needle in a haystack

i noticed someone put up the sump plug washer off the ford ranger ...very handy to know if your stuck ...this info will be very hard to find in a week never mind 6 months .....i fitted the vectra links to mine ....there was rumour the galaxy links fitted the rears....i could'nt find a part number for these / has anyone......the point is an easy list /saving time and money hopefully.......Ian i have just looked up the engine block (diesel)95' the number (wl01-02-300A) ok we know the ford ranger has the same block will this number be relative to the ford ranger also?

When I needed a part and looked at "Parts" in the Members Area all that was listed was suppliers such as those already advertising on the website?
I think its a marvellous idea to keep a record of parts from other vehicles that will also fit a Bongo, it could save a lot of time and money.
So who is going to keep the list up to date then?

I have spent a pleaseant few hours tracking down recommended compatible parts from this forum and elsewhere and have come up with a list.
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... hp?t=14881
If you want to add to it, please do so.
I will then turn it into a databse and keep it up to date on the main website.
Have closed this thread now, please use the new one.
