Bongo Fury

I have just bought my Ford Freda (recently imported) and I am keen to get it Waxoyled. It is imaculate underneath but with Winter looming I cannot see that lasting.

I read the various posts on the various providers of this service but haven't seen any mention of a company called Rustmaster (http://www.rustmaster.co.uk) who are in Hatfield. They have given me a competative quote plus a 12% discount for being a member of Bongo Fury.

Has anyone used them?

Got the Bongo done at Rustmasters today and I am very pleased with the results. Michael has done a fantastic job and was very thorough and methodical in his approach. Step 1 was to make a pot of tea!!

After we were both suitable refreshed Michael cracked on with the work which started with a visual inspection of the of the underside. Michael pointed a couple areas where someone has tried to jack the Bongo up on the sills but other than the bongo is in very good condition. There are 3 steps to the treatment, hot pressure, cavity spray (using 120-4 Waxoyl Professional cavity wax) and finaly underbody spray (using Waxoyl Professional hard wax). At each stage Michael explain what he was doing and the areas he was treating. Finally after 5 hours work I was invited to inspect the work.

Highly recomended and the 12% discount for Bongo Fury members was a real bonus.

£460 inc Vat and discount.

PHEW! thats way over what i been quoted and mine has to be presser washed and dryed 1st.

For that money you could go to India and pick your own tea

From all of my searching through the forum this is the going rate to get the job done properly. I looked at all the recomended providers "Before nd Now" £480 plus Vat, Chassis Clean £400 (too far from me), Rustbusters £525 so I thought £460 was a good price.

Anyway its cheaper than welding repairs, which when you start never ends.

A lot of people are happy paying £50 for a job that is worse than useless. Anything under 2 to 3 hundred quid isn't buying enough time for a proper job. It would take me 5 hours plus to do it and that is always going to be expensive at garage rates. £460 does sound steep for a halfway job though. The best work (£400 and up) involves a steam clean and thorough drying cycle before starting work. It does sound like your bloke did the second bit well though. If you are keeping the vehicle you will get your money back time and again.

Had a word with my guy today, who by the way has his own conversion business, cant say who he is cos he hates waxoyling but some members on here have bought from him and rate him very highly I had to beg and play the sympathy card for him to agree to do mine. Great chap we had a looooooooong chat about bongos.

Mines being pressured washed with some bits to be removed for cleaning, then waxoyled. For the grand total of £250 waxoyled alone would of been £150. After having him recommend to me by several people and chatting with him, I'm left in no doubt that it will be a job well done.

I was happy with my useless £50 waxoyl treatment.

I pressure washed, and inspected the underside/wheelarch areas myself.

No areas needed any pre-wax treatment.

I Left it to air dry for 3 days (in a dry week of summer),then nipped off to mike at wheelquick for a fair few gallons of waxoyl,3 hours later, my bongo re-appeared,ready for the very limited winter use it gets.

If enough vehicles are regularly done, you'd be suprised how quickly the job can be done, even if you are taking your time!

My bongo has had four years of uk use,without a trace of rust to be covered by waxoyl.

Given that my bongo hasn't been used on salted roads,and probably won't be, then i consider the protection given is more than adequate,and the full on job would have been overkill for my needs.

I've just got back from Rustmaster and I must agree with coolhand. He has done a stirling job of my Bongo. He treats the inside of all doors, sills etc and takes his time to do the underside properly. He explains exactly what he is doing throughout the treatment and I have come away feeling that the job has been done perfectly at a reasonble price.

I run my own business and feel I know the difference between a professional and someone after a quick buck. Michael is most certainly the former. I really don't see how you can do this for 50 quid and if the bloke who does it for 250 doesn't really like doing waxoyl I would sooner he didn't do mine!
