How do I fit a new replacement mirror into the plastic housing? The housing has been removed from the vehicle.
P.S. the advice not to take a Bongo through an automatic car wash is really worth following! :(

Surely it just bolts into the tailgate with 4 bolts ?

By plastic housing do you mean the spoiler ? If so, you bolt the mirror on, and then the spoiler just fits back over the top of the mirror mount.

I thought the "housing" was a rubber seal andrew?

It should just bolt straight up

The automatic car wash ripped the glass mirror (lens?) out of its plastic housing. I have removed the four bolts, obtained a replacement mirror. How do I fit the one into the other? One advice is to boil the plastic housing presumably to soften it. Is the correct?
Thanks
Andrew

Which wash did you go through Andrew, as I have said before I use our local Tesco car wash regularly with no problems ans have done so for the last four years. Happy motoring.

Hi Andrew, this is an interesting one...

I have sourced COMPLETE rear mirror assemblies for forum members in the past (£20) but i have no experience of fitting the actual lens back into the mirror housing/frame.

The soaking in to the hot water sounds a good bet, stick a small amount of wash up liquid in there too as a lubricant...

What comes out, must go back in! (in theory anyway  )

Good luck, and keep us posted?
