Horn not working??

Hi, My horn has stopped working, i checked the fuze 5th on i from the left top row 10amp thats fine i have also checked the connections on the steering wheel and at the horn its self and all seems fine. Any ideas???

Also the oil light is staying on a tiny bit longer after start up is this a sign of something?

I haven't checked on the Bongo but does it earth by attaching to the vehicles chassis? Often the circuit is broken by a bad earth. Try removing and cleaning up so as to make a good earth or alternatively run a new wire from the horn to a known good earth.

Maybe it's just the horn has packed up - try running a wire direct from the battery to test it.
Oil light could be low oil level, or just that it's getting colder in the morning and the thicker oil takes longer to circulate. As long as it's not taking a long time to go out, and doesn't come on at tickover, it's probably nothing to worry about too much.

If your oil light is taking longer to go out on starting, I think this can only mean it is taking longer for the oil pressure to build up or possibbly the oil filter is draining whilst stopped (same effect). Have you had a oil change recently? Is the correct grade of oil being used? (thin or old oil would cause this). How long is longer? Mine takes a couple of seconds.
Suggest you change oil and filter and see if this helps.

Hi, I ran a wire direct to the horn and it works, looks like the earth is below it and that all looks firm and clean. Any more things to try?

It looks like you're going to have to check the wires for continuity with a meter (or light bulb).

Hi Frogman

I had the same problem. There is a cassette in the boss of the steering column. It is a ribbon cable which is wound so that when the steering wheel is turned, the ribbon unfurls. It also carries the signal for the airbag (if fitted).

Its worth checking continuity of the ribbon cable. I had to replace mine. Bell Hill garage supplied very quickly, but £40.

I haqd the same problem , but opted to get a switch and new horn instead lol so fitted new horn and switch for £12
