I have an MOT on Wednesday and no handbrake.
Can anybody give me an idea on the best method of adjustment.
Thanks Dave

I asked on BF about this a while back. The feedback I got advised checking adjustment on the brake drum (Bongos have a brake drum solely for the parking brake, in addition to the disc / pads which are for the normal brakes) before looking at adjustment on the handbrake cable (also checking that drum lines are OK). Whatever you do, make sure you dont end up in a situation where the hand brake drums end up binding due to not leaving a little slack in the system. As to specifics, I havent done the job yet so cant advise!

I dont have the manual to hand but if you dont have a handbrake I would suggest you check the brake first. Remove the rear wheel and then the caliper and carrier. You can then remove the disc and expose the hand brake which is about the size of a fiesta rear brake. I have heard on this forum that some have found that the bonded lining has come off the shoe. If the linings are ok adjust until you can just get the disc/drum back on. When this is done you should have a handbrake.
