Power steering pump and fuel pump - priming required?

I'm changing my engine....does anyone know if, when I get my new engine in, whether I will need to prime the power steering pump and/or fuel pump?
I'm hoping just to be able to chuck diesel and aft into the respective holes and drive away happily! However, I'd rather be pre-aware if thats not going to be the case!
If priming is necessary, anyone know how to do it?
Thanks.......Rob

Fuel pump - yes. If yours doesn't have a primer button on top of the filter (like mine) then you will have to prime the system by cranking the engine so make sure your battery is in good condition. To prime using the button, simply press it a few times until resistance is felt.
Power Steering - not sure why you will have touched this when replacing the engine but in theory all you should need to do is top up the ATF. Any air in the system should work its way out during normal use. One way to speed up the process is to place something shiny under each front tyre (a glossy magazine for example) and with the engine running, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock a few times (the shiny material allows you to more easily move the tyres whilst stationary). This will circulate the fluid and expel any air in the process. Top up as necessary.

Thanks for that Ian................I'm fitting a secind-hand engine and I've removed it from the donor vehicle as a complete lump inc turbo, egr, all pumps etc...........I decided to try and keep it all together to avoid disturbance as much as poss. so I've just disconnected the pipes to the power steering pump rather than removing the pump off the old engine. I did leave the air con pump tho' to avoid recharging.
