Annandchris,
Never heard this one before the switch for the sidelights is on the end on the indicator stalk on the right hand side if they come on with the ignition it must have been changed to do so.
As a thought does You Bongo have a leisure battery?,if it doesnt I would consider having one done as You are running the TV from the vehicle battery which is a bit risky.
Loads of info on here about leisure batteries.

The lights come on with the ignition?

Only if the end of the light stalk is twisted into the on position, if the lights illuminated with the ignition, you would have your lights on in the daytime also?
I thought only old school volvo's/saab's had daytime running lights?
Never heard of this before with a bongo

Neither do mine, and I've never seen another Bongo driving around with lights on - sounds like someone has rewired them.

I would like to know how to re-wire my lights so that they come on when ever the ignition is on. I was fined £30 in Croatia for not having my lights on at 1pm on a bright, sunny day

and while I will not be returning to Croatia for some time, the law is being applied to more and more countries across Europe.

I too like to drive on dipped headlights even during the day.
I am quite pleased when oncoming drivers flash me to tell me that I have my lights on - they have obviously served their purpose as the other driver has spotted my vehicle!

have you also fitted a cd player/stereo? it can be very easy when installing a new head unit to assume that the wire that has no feed to it is an earth when it turns out to be an illumination feed wired into the side lights. i have seen several times side lights that come on with the radio!. does the tv work through the head unit for sound? or does the tv just plug into a cigar lighter in which case there goes my theory. still sounds like a back-feed through an earth to me(but i have been drinking)
