Cabin filter

Can anyone tell me if Bongos should have a cabin filter to filter the incoming cabin air before it gets to all the aircon gubins? (note:- I am not on about the engine air filter )
A quick look in the inlet ducting seems to show a cavity that could be where there is meant to be a filter..... just in front and above the blower fan. Removing the flat inlet duct that is plastic riveted above the front grill reveals the cavity I am talking about and also reveals the blower fan blades and the flap that provides the recirculating function. Judging from the crud on the fan blades, mine has been opperating without a filter for a long time and as this is the first air con vehicle I have come across that has not got a cabin filter this concerns me somewhat!
