Hi
Does anyone know if whitewall tyres are available in Bongo size tyres, as it’s ages since I’ve looked for such tyres, as I fancy junking my alloys , and going to steels with moon discs and whitewalls, come to that I seem to have lost my contact number for a company supplying the moon discs. It’s a throwback to our Type Two days, and later this year, we plan a custom metalflake paint job, which will look quite “retro”, and, I hope, rather cool with some “old school” graphics.
Cheers
Helen

i remember years ago you could buy a white plastic trim that you put on the tyre ( you let the tyre down slip this trim over the steel rim then inflate) instant white walled tyres , must admit never seen them for a long time .sorry i know this does not help but i thought id mention it.

Hi
Thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn’t thank you earlier, but Tony has had the office tied up with bits of computer everywhere. I do know of the tyre paint, and the clip-in whitewall trims, but the tyre paint tends to look “crabby” after a month or two, as I know from past experience, and some years ago, I believe that there were issues with the clip-in whitewall trims, as they clip between the tyre and wheel, and, I believe, cause problems with the tyre bead sealing on the wheel. The type of whitewall that I was looking for has a white band about 1 ½ inches wide halfway up the tyre wall, and would look absolutely “demon” with moondisc wheeltrims, but I can’t find either at the moment, and a lot of the new alloys seem to look a bit like they belong on a (c)rap singer’s Hummer, along with the revolving wheel trims that they favour (if you know what I mean). It seems that I’ll have to opt for alloys if I can find some that look not too outrageous.
Cheers,
Helen
