My exhaust system needs replacing. I've patched it and botched it enough. Its got holes everywhere. The cost for all the pipes and boxes will break the bank.
Has anyone had a system manufactured? if so how much?

Ron,
I got a quote from Longlife exhausts in Cwmbwrla, its up by near Matalan.
They quoted £329 including VAT, I was only looking for a back silencer as my tail piece is starting to rust thanks to a chrome piece fitted onto it.
This is the reply I had from them :-
"Thanks for your enquiry. Im afraid we Dont offer a backbox alone for this vehicle, the price however is very reasonable, this quote is for a centre and rear section.
A custom build stainless exhaust system for your Mazda Bongo would usually run from the existing downpipe section through to the rear of the car. Included in the base system price would be a standard style 2.5" rolled lip style tailpipe. You can of course choose an alternative or upgrade from our extensive range of about 55 tailpipes if you wish.
Because all of our systems are custom built, you are able to tell us how you would like the car to sound, anywhere from quiet to full sport. The most popular choice is Mild Sport, which gives a slight note when you open the accelerator, yet without being intrusive.
The system is guaranteed for as long as you own the car, and this is a fully transferrable warranty. It's also a "No Hassle" warranty - we believe it is the very the best warranty in the industry.
If you are interested in technical specifications, the system is built in 304 grade stainless steel throughout, and assembled using high frequency TIG welding. All of our systems are built using freeflow technology, so your engine will breathe better than with conventional systems. This usually gives a noticeable improvement in the torque from your engine - particularly at lower revs. We have numerous testimonials from customers who have experienced both improved engine performance and fuel economy.
Fitting is by appointment - we usually require a vehicle like yours for around 3.5 hours while we custom build and fit the system.
To custom build and fit a Longlife system onto your vehicle, the price (inclusive of VAT) with the 2.5" tailpipe option works out at £329.
We are based at Unit 14A Cwm Du Industrial Estate, Carmarthen Rd, Swansea SA5 8JF. We also have a centre at Unit 7, Regent Trade Park, Ocean Way, Cardiff CF24 5PF".

Thanks warrior and Mikey,
These prices beat the cost of the individual pipes and boxes.
Does anyone know how mpg and performance are affected?

I had a complete system built by MIJ recently. My fitting was more complicated than most since I have a Bongo 2.5L V6 Petrol and they were expecting me to turn up in a Diesel like the many other Bongos that they have dealt with. Their customer service is first class and included use of a suite overlooking the work bay with leather sofas and shower facilities. They made me coffee while I watched Sky on their giant screen and kept me up to date with the work as it was progressing. My appointment was for a 20 minute fitting but since they had to build an entire system from scratch including down pipes and refit a Lambda sensor that had damaged threads, it took over 4 Hours. But they never complained. When they finished it was too loud and so they spent another hour and a half rebuilding it. Its still loud compared to the very smooth quiet V6 that it was, so they have offered to fit a bigger rear box and pay for the fuel to revisit them. You can't get service like that these days. Based on what they quoted me originally the cost for your Bongo would be about £300 fitted or they will post it to you. It's a long way to go but I will always use them from now on.

I am in the process of getting a system from MIJ. posted at a very reasonable price. Hopefully deal done tomorrow, I mean today (forgot it's 1:14am

) They have been very helpfull, and polite on the phone.
I am doing this as I have heard nothing but good reports about them, and being a everyday Bongo up in the Highlands, I can't worry about the old exhaust falling off, and then having the Bongo off the road for several days.
Anyone want to buy an old exhaust?
