Bongo Fury

I recently knocked the rear box off my exhaust. My mechanic thinks that he can re-attach it. Mine is the only Bongo he see's. Can any-one supply a drawing of a Bongo exhaust system? It is a 2.5 diesel Automatic 1995.

My grateful thanks in advance to anyone who can respond S.A.P. I am taking her to Anglesey next month.

I have just trawled all 60 pages of our Tech section, the only references to exhausts were fitting stainless steel ones or something about studs. I was constantly sidetracked reading the various posts - very informative!

Hi Walter. My rear exhaust box recently detached itself! On closer inspection it had sheared flush with the rear face of the box.

I removed the whole of the rear section from the Bongo, only a few bolts and rubber hangers - but I did have to cut the bolt heads off with a small wheel. I then cut off about 4" off the exhaust pipe where it had sheared off and then welded this back onto the rear box.

Reassemble the exhaust pipe to the rear box using a piece of flexible exhaust pipe over the join and clamp in place and the reassemle the whole pipe back onto Bongo.

I have been running lke this for about 3 months and passed the MOT.

PS A new back box is around £60.00 on E-Bay.

I am not sure if I will need a new box or not. The diagram and ebay source if I need a new part will help my local mechanic.
