Hi,

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the central locking ?
I,m installing an alarm in my freda and need to hook it into the central locking so it will remote lock/unlock the doors, and also sense when the door has been opened.
The alarm works fine without it, but after disarming I have to quickly insert the key in the ignition otherwise it re-arms itself, because it doesn't know the doors been opened.

Has anyone fitted an alarm and has the info ? I know I can get the full wiring diagram from the members section, but I suspect this is overkill and in Japanese, so probably not too usefull !!

Dave – are you saying that if the doors are opened, the alarm won’t sound?

If you remove the front interior light,
you can connect a wire to one of the connections that becomes earthed if either front doors are opened.
Feeding a wire from here is fairly easy, pushing it into the gap around headlining,
and then down the door pillar by removing the rubber seal.

As for central locking, you will need to fit a solenoid to the drivers door
Unless you already had remote locking – lots of posts on this.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear....

I need to connect the alarm into the existing central locking, so that when I arm the alarm (via tha alarm remote), it also locks the car. I suspect the wires for the central locking are somewhere under the dash, but need help finding them.

Dave, no problem
The drivers door does not usually contain a solenoid.
That means that you have to manually unlock the drivers door, with the key or by hand for the central locking to work.
If you wired into that circuit, all the other doors would lock/unlock but not the drivers door. Adding a solenoid to the drivers door, and operating this from your alarm, will in turn unlock/lock all other door.

Having said that you may be lucky and already have a solenoid in the door if you Bongo had factory fitted REMOTE locking(from a keyfob).

Ok...I understand about the solenoid, but where, under the dash, are the wires for the central locking and what colour are they ? That's what I need....if you know it.

Yes....the door is not the problem...

The motor in the drivers door and the motor in the passenger door can be operated together and the wiring between them must pass through the dashboard somewhere. That's what i need...

I need to know where it is and the wire colours (and ideally what they do), if anyone can help.

The relay for the door locks is behind the glovebox.

So remove the glovebox - three connectors there right in front of you (green white blue) ignore them. The relay you want is behind them, the connector is on the bottom - it is an 8-way with six wires

Now... colours I think you want the red and red/green wires - yes they are the motor lines, alternating 0/12 to lock/unlock.

Black is earth, White/green is power if I remember right.

White/black and Yellow/Red are the control coming from the drivers door lock

editJust checked all that against the wiring manual - it's kosher

Unfortunately the freda goes into the garage tomorrow for new drop links, so won't be able to check that out till Friday. I'll let you know how I get on.

No probs. Got a load of other wiring notes I want to write up - like for the rear blinds, door mirrors etc. I wired up my alarm to close the front windows, pull in the mirrors and lower the rear blinds when I lock. It's quite fun to see the Bongo shut itsel' up nicely :O)

I'm also struggling over telling the alarm when I've opened the door...at the moment I have to insert the ignition key quick or it re-arms (when entering)

Brighton Bongo suggested using the interior light wiring, sounded perfect...but that gives us an earth when the door is opened, and I need a +ve for the alarm input. How did you solve this ?

Weird - sure the alarm doesn't a -ve trigger as well? What alarm is it?

Could use a relay (that would suck though - suck juice literally :O)
