Hello This is my first ever post. I need some help. I have a split on the water hose on the drivers side. I cut the damaged end off and will fit jubilee clip in the morning. But do you know where I can get another of these hoses? Is this a common problem. Its the large hose that comes straight out from the engine and then dissapears down the front about two foot in total. Also any tips on fitting it or even removing it?

thanks for any help gratefully received.

Hi,
I'd like to know too, as they don't seem to be listed in the BF shop and there has been a lot of posts about hoses going on Bongos.

I have used the search facility but not come up with anything concrete on hose types and supplies.

I don't have one yet, but it's supposedly due in 4 weeks (on the high seas right now), and am considering replacing hoses and flusing the coolant system when I take delivery as a precautionary measure.

Any thoughts gratefully received

Vanmanerik has (I think) done a fair bit of research on getting hoses that dont cost anything like the Mazda originals but which do the job. He may read this thread but PM him anyway 8)

ava do the hose I had the same one go. Staightforward to change but fill from the expansion bottle and make sure you use the bleed hose under the passengers seat to get the air out of the system (its the one that seams to go nowhere!)
cheers

Thanks for the advice. Not as simple as putting a jubilee clip on and refilling with water and antifreeze then!

Is the bleed hose the small one that kinks back on itself and stops?

The main hoses from the engine to the rad and return have proved to be difficult in locating 35mm hose and 90 degree bends to fabricate new hoses.

Looks as if it is 'Mazda Bongo Water Hose (Top Drivers side)' on
http://www.bongobits.com/Main.asp?PageN ... ts&Page=12 and around the £20.00+ mark.

It may be worth a trip around a local breakers yard and see if you can find something simmilar or at least something with a couple of bends in you could join with a piece of tube to save some dosh.

To give you an idea of what 'off the shelf' hoses and bits and bobs are available have a look at http://www.nfauto.co.uk/gates.htm

I think the hose you need is 'Mazda Bongo Water Hose (Top) Reference
BB0000074PC' this runs from the engine to the steel pipe on the driver's side, got at from under the engine cover.
The 'Mazda Bongo Water Hose (Top Drivers side)' mentioned in the previous post is the front one that runs from the radiator top to the steel pipe, accessible from under the bonnet.

Just to emphasise a point: It is VITAL that you bleed the system fully and properly when you do replace your hose and refill the system. If you don't there is a serious risk of airlocks and overheating and blown head gasket and cracked cylinder head and all sorts of nasty stuff!

Don't want to scare you but it is important! If you're in any doubt about how to do it...ask on the forum and search for relevant posts.....there's loads of info about it.

Rob
