Bongo Fury

My van came with remote central locking which has never worked! After 2 years of running around the van to lock the door, Im trying to get it working. I think it's factory fitted as the installation is very tidy, and the plastic cover to inside of drivers door is intact and looks as if it has never been removed. (Until I got to it!)

Facts:
1. The central locking works fine via the key.
2. I've replaced the battery in the 'plipper' fob
3. There is power getting to the gubbins in the door.

Can you suggest anything I need to check, or do you have any other marvellous ideas to get it working?

swap the drivers door solonoid for one of these kits

takes about an hour or so and theres a fact sheet in the members area
only difference is the mounting point i put it up near the lock
if it ain`t a duff wire somewhere for the sake of £20 saves a lot of head scratching

I think clogger may be right. I bought a slightly different kit, just the control unit and a seperate actuator and it was pretty easy to fit.

I'm guessing but I suppose either the solenoid in your set up is faulty or, the control unit is. Suggest you take off the door panel and see if you can find an output from the control that activates when you press your keyfob. If you find a voltage it's likely your actuator/solenoid which you could buy for about £5. If you cant find an output or hear any relay clicking etc then assume it'll be the control unit.

Sorry cant be more specific as I only have experience of fitting my own, good luck.

I've got the kit I need now, 2 fobs, wiring and control unit thingy...£23 inc. postage.

if your lucky the old solonoid will work with the new control unit and you don`t need to whack a new one in even less work

Clogger is right, you can test the original solenoid using a live feed to one of its wires - if it pops up/down then you can just connect the wires form the new unit.
The original one is much better positioned than the kit allows.

I've fitted it all now........didn't need a new solenoid....good job really because the kit didn't have one! It was just an kit to upgrade normal central locking to remote operation.

All works well except that I can't get the hazard lights to flash when the lock is operated....not too bothered though...the wiring was a nightmare...it was like trying to win the lottery working out which combination of wires worked! There were 4 wires going into the old control unit and 12 wires coming out of the new one!

What was the ebay number of the item you bought RobnKathryn?

I bet that was the same as the one I bought. I posted on here for help but no-one really could. Got there in t he end after a few emails to the seller and some trial and error. Glad to see it's working now.

ps I haven't got the hazards wired either, I toyed with a bleeper instead but decided it was too annoying. In the end I just listen for the clunk
