Bongo Fury

having used the roof on my bongo the roof indicator light on the dashboard remains flashing even though the roof is down.
Could something have shorted or a connection isn't made due to something getting wet in the british summer we've been having.
i think this is also draining the battery?
any help /advice would be very gratefully received

Probably due to one of the tiny microswitches on the roof mechanism.

Try operating them with the roof up - it might stop it from sticking.

Others have sprayed a switch contact cleaner into them.

You might need to replace one or more of them.

There was some discussion on this a while ago, one of the members identified the RS replacement type.

pieman1971uk - I bought my Bongo with this problem and 9 months later I still havent got around to fixing it. Irritating (I've put masking tape over that bit of the bash) but not life threatening.

If any BF experts can advise on this one I'd be really grateful. Despite some old advice on BF, I struggled to find the microswitch that controlled the behaviour of the light, let alone how to remedy it. And it it turns out to need a replacement, where do you buy the correct item. People say ou just buy a microswitch from Maplins, but that a bit vague for an ignoramus like me.

me and pieman could use advice from anyone with experience of all htis.

previous thread on this only yesterday, my light keeps flashing as well, I go the new micro switch frm AVA Leisure, there are actually four switches on the roof one in each corner, mine is the nearside front switch, however they are very hard to change as the roof needs to come off. It might be possible to cut the wires and rejoin them but it will be very tight as there is not much play in the wires.

looking forward to someone having an easy answer to this.

I have sorted mine out today with the help of a friend (fork lift truk engineer)
Open the roof slighty about 2 foot (its easier to reach the micro switchs)
put a bit of cardboard between the switch contacts. if this stops the bleeping do what i did next
unscrew the black part of the microswitch only slightly put a screw driver behind and lever (very gently not too much) towards the cream coloured plastic part that the metal strip touches and re tighten.
Then do the same to the cream part (2 screws on these) and lever towards the black part and re tighten.
Do this to both sides (I only had to do the front to cure my bleeping) and test.
Mine works how it should now (no bleeping when it's down corectly).
The idea is basically to get the 2 parts closer together.
