I test drove a bongo today for a prospective buyer, an indigo blue 1995 AFT. Its a fair example, which was a sweet drive, and not bad condition.

However.... upon my return from a quite short ten minute test drive, after shutting down the engine, i turned the ignition back on to listen for the scavenge fan,i didnt hear the scavenge kick in, but i did hear the engine cooling fans kick straight in for over five minutes.

I found this a little strange, as the bongo had barely warmed up.

The cooling fans on my bongo wouldn't have kicked in this early after a short run on a cool wet day.

I instantly gave the cooling system a quick once over, and all seemed to be in order, the coolant was clear, and the level bang on the max mark in the header.

Would any techies be suspicious under these circumstances i wonder?

Or am i being over cautious?

I wouldn't worry. It sounds as though you checked all the right things.

Thanks for the link labongoo, (i dont think it was warm enough for the scavenger fan anyway) but my main concern was the fans coming on continuously for a good five minutes when the engine had barely warmed.

Thats a good point Glynanderson, it could well have been the aircon fans, i hadn't considered that, but the engine was OFF and the ignition was ON... surely the aircon is inactive then,so should be the fans?
