Slow Roof + battery charging

My roof is slow to rise compared to a mate's Bongo. Battery fully charged and just wondering if the motor is on the way out. Only issue is that he was operaing off campsite power whereas I am just off the battery. Would this have made the difference. I'm planning to just charge my main battery all the time/overnight from campsite power so I can run my fridge (I have no secondary battery - just a rear conversion) has anyone else done this/think of any problems?

Cheers

The usual advice is to have the engine running whilst operating the roof - plenty of power then. :)

A sophisticated charger will maintain the battery voltage at 13.8V.
That is what the hook-up charger is, probably.

The alternator charges at more than that, hence that might be the reason for the Viagra effect when the engine is running.
