i have just fitted new disc's and pads to the rear brakes all fine ...but am getting this binding/grinding metal on metal type noise now and then. i have been informed that there maybe brake shoes inside the rear drums which could be the problem its something to do with the hand brake etc. has anyone come across this before and if so were do you get the shoes from any ideas....cheers :D i have a 97 bongo

brake squeal may be the cause and can be caused if the anti-rattle shims are not fitted or incorrectly fitted.
as the the rear drums i have a 95 bongo and its discs on all four corners so no drums.

I thought there was a set of shoes inside the rear disc to act as parking brake and pads to stop the vehicle, in effect it is a drum with a disc welded to it. Might be wrong but it is worth a check redalan.

Brake drums are inside the rear disc for the parking brake. May just need bedding in, edge of the pad could be catching. Did you apply a smear of grease to the shims and pads?
