Welcome to the madhouse known as Bongo Fury - you seem to know what you're doing, but we'll soon knock that out of you
You might well have a market for your blanking plugs - I've only blanked off the other end of mine because that was easy.

Good job Nick...your name's familiar, been here before???

Is there a light tapping noise as the oil pressure is building up Nick?

Nick

You're familair to me too.

Some time back you welded me up an engine cradle for my KR-1S/350YPVS special...

And Dandywarhol, I've seen you on TRX850 forums

It's a frighteningly small world

Welcome to Bongoland Nick. Did the oil light go out quick before you started changing filters? Seems odd if it started after the first filter change. Ours goes out after a couple of seconds. Glad the clock's ticking away. If I'd known you were a club member you would have got a couple of quid knocked off. I've got some blue/green led bulbs now, they look quite cool when matching the radio or whathaveyou.

I was little worried by the 2.5-3 seconds for the lamp to extinguish and i have also changed the oil filter to prevent the draining effect although a new filter has only marginally improved the time to extinguish. ( or it may just be wishful thinking!) but it seems many Bongos take a similar time to build up pressure without problems although the engine does go marginally quieter when the lamp goes out. I guess keeping the oil topped up to the Maximum is about as good as we can do really.
So is it a real problem or a perceived one? if the pressure setting was a little lower and the lamp went earlier yet the engine still took as long to quieten. Would anyone really notice?

I think the filters don't have the non-return valve in. Your oil pressure is OK because the light would come on at tickover (engine hot) if the pressure was down. My light goes out immediately as I would expect it to. I am sure you are refilling the filter every time you start.

My oil light takes around two seconds on the very first (cold) start up of the day... It extinguishes immediately at all other times.

Does anybody know if the bongo has an oil cooler fitted?

Or is this unnecessary on a diesel?
