Bongo Fury

As it looks like my gasket has also gone, (garage replacing as part of warranty), I read on this site a number of others in a similar position.
Is head gasket failure a common problem?
If so, is it caused mainly by overheating and thus why does the bongo over heat?

usually it is poor quality coolant(needs renewing every 2 years) airlocks are common, the system needs to be bled, leaking radiators, leaking hoses, faulty radiator and expansion bottle caps, crud in the cooling system, slow opening thermostats, faulty waterpumps Not sure if I have missed anything???????

Well I had them all but the waterpump
