Bongo Fury

Pleased to say the Bongo is working perfectly after a new head and other items. I think it is fair to say it has been well tested having been driven 300 miles without a peep immediately from the garage through the scenic route of Dartmoor up 400M hills. Operating temps are now in the lower end to an improved cooling system.

I have been extremely happy with the advice, support and expertise that has been provided by the new west country garage during this stressful and hugely annoying time. Had a nice chat about Bongos and the expertise was immense and clearly/practically demonstrated. If any long standing members want to know the top far West country garage I used then PM me.

At 55mph it almost runs as quiet as a petrol engine. Silky.

It won't be Allans in Plymouth as they know nothing about Bongos - don't even own one I believe and certainly not the oldest one in the UK

I think they might be the best at Bongos in the UK, from general reports.

You wouldn't get a nice message like that from yer average VW main dealership.

Life's a whole lot better with a Bongo, even with the occasional hiccup.

Yes there was an unfortunate accident on the A38 and so we took a chance down the back B roads we often have a B road adventure not wanting to be stuck forever and bumped in to some helpful locals also wondering what to do, they said we could take the scenic route and so we did.

Which worked out well really as it seemed a bit odd to go all that way knowing there was Dartmoor and Exmoor not so far away. Just took it easy as I normally do through all the meandering moorland roads, stopped for tea and scones en route and got in quite late but just as the final light dropped.

It never ceases to amaze what you are missing when you veer off the A and M roads. Always some beautiful countryside. And the nice thing is a bigger camper/vehicle you might get stuck on those old stone bridges over those ancient streams and small rivers. Bongo's love those meandering roads, eats them up in it's stride. Given their age they are incredible at those roads and I only have budget tyres at the moment as well. (The ones that came with the van when we bought it, they looked new) Plenty of torque and power getting back up the hills as well.

I think if I lived that way I would be up Dartmoor every other weekend.

Allan had quite a few Bongos down there when I turned up, many I suspect being repaired. Plymouth seemed a bit like the Bongo Capital of the UK. You seem to pass one every mile or so.
