I could not tell you how many thousands of pounds in weight of sausage meat and links i have made, and i know what goes into most of the supermarket ones

Lost without my Bongo.
Re: Easter Meet anyone?
worked in one of those (small butchers shop) for 6 months i wouldnt guarantee what goes in all of theirs either.
blobber i can get wimping out of the walk but
Alan rolling -not sure why youre worried about that one - you usually end up rolling about in your awning anyway might be safer this way at least we would clear dangerous objects out of the way first -wouldnt we ? yes course we would.

Re: Easter Meet anyone?
Hi Jo,
Just caught up with the thread and I think that all of us (Famil_Oz) are up for the sausage competition, so please stick down for that.
Sam is still in the design phase (posh for haven't started it yet) for the girls bonnets.
If we bring our digdog he'll be suitable dressed for the event too.
I have noticed that some people would like to share a hook up. We don't mind if they share with us.
Regards,
Oz

Nice one BongoD, with regards to sausages, nice thing is you can put what you want in them. DBO possibly had a bad employer and Karen knows she did lol.
I am liking the sausage making and our burgers I know what is in them. Our Paul (butcher at Flookburgh) makes excellent sausages, but they are not gluten free which is an issue for me. The ones we make can be adapted to anyone, even vegetarians. For meat eater's though you need either brisket of beef for beef sausages or Pork shoulder for pork sausages. Our butcher Paul say's beef sausages have fallen out of favour because of the muck that used to go in them. Like Maccy D's burgers I am guessing!

Cheers Jo,
No worries with the sausage competition.
I'm still divided about bring the hound, he's lovely but I'm still undecided about it, as this will be our first foray into the bongo wilderness. Besides the little tinker get arsey if he can't be the centre of attention.

Not the only one who gets 'arsey' if not the centre of attention. Fortunately no one takes any notice anyway.
On behalf of the shopkeepers of Grange I wish to register a protest about the sausages/burgers.
Higginsons (voted Britain's best butchers) do not put 'rubbish' in their sausages and have won lots of awards.
Mike (at Proctor's Butchers) next door but one to my shop does excellent handmade gluten free sausage in small batches.
WatchersWildlife Shop does an excellent line in birdseed and flavoured vegetable fats which is very suitable for making vegetarian sausages (not).
Looking forward to this meet. How about a gentle walk up Hampsfell or a wander around Cartmel or Grange (our shop may be open on Saturday morning)
cheers
H

Re: Easter Meet anyone?
Totally agree with Harry ,go to the local butchers that you know and trust for your sausages, they have to be pretty decent otherwise they would not sell and they lose money
I used to make sausages for supermarkets, totally different way of making them than the local butcher, it was make em cheap, make em quick and don't bother about the quality.
I am a fully qualified butcher by trade, worked for small butcher shops and the supermarkets for years till i got fed up with the trade.
I buy my sausages from my local butcher that i used to work for, and his famous pork pies that a few of the bongo crowd have sampled, i know what goes into them, that's why i buy from him and not the supermarket crap.
I am coming to Allithwaite for a nice quiet weekend.
Walking ,sausages and easter bonnets are not high on my list of activities, sleeping and doing nowt are top.

Allithwaite will always be a chill out zone because I am here. Just seem's like a good idea to make your own an *know what goes in to them*? I need to be gluten free for my health.

Re: Easter Meet anyone?
Harry mate, I live for our bird's LOL I love them so much. I am a bit concerned about having so many blackbird boyz and girlz feeding in our garden. They are beginning to war and this upsets me. I guess I should just sit back and think I gave them the best food over this tough winter.
