Thanks to Ian for engineering a free weekend on the Langollen branch of the Shropshire Union canal at Wrenbury. No electric (for most of us) and cold overnight, but a lovely, sleepy village. A few pics from Team Muz....

Lunch, and no frog’s legs or snails in sight

Stunning pics Muz as usual. That misty dawn was a photographers delight and the first of the Bongos at Dawn shots is as good as any I've seen (it would be great to see that on our home page instead of a Ford Plymouth Chevrolet Mustang Pontiac Firebird thing - hint hint  ). That site looks stunning also - I hope maybe there'll be another Bongo camp there as I love that part of the world - sleepy and a well kept secret - and would try to get along (fancied this one but am doing chores before my hernia op. tommoz when I won't be able to do any for a while).

V. interesting to see a couple of fixed hi-top Bongos too. I think they look really good - did you get a chance to look inside them and whats the setup?

The silver one was from Denby Motors and had a pretty standard full side conversion. Didn't get to see the roofboard arrangement (if any) and didn't get to see inside the white one at all.

Dabs was saying he had a drive in one at WheelQuick recently and it wasn't at all wallowy on corners like you might expect.

Yes, that calm, misty dawn was too good an opportunity to miss, some very moody & atmospheric shots. I took loads you know

The site could be good, it has a huge rally-field but due to the fire they'd recently had there were only a few electric pitches. The facilities were sparse to say the least, only one WC for everyone unless you used the bogs in the pub (when open) and we got thrown out of the pub because they needed the tables for pre-booked meals. So although they accepted most of us for free and undoubtedly hoped to make money from our custom in the pub, they scuppered that plan themselves by not being able to accommodate.

But, it was a free camping weekend and we enjoyed it.

Maybe a good CHEAP site then (they can't expect top dollar with facilities like that) as long as its in peaceful / scenic countryside?

Im so glad this Meet went on!! =D> =D> =D>
Basic camping and Bongos just seem to go together somehow!
After the freezing conditions two weeks ago at Bakewell it was nice to get back the more acceptable rain and drizzle [-X [-X  Great to meet up with Janner Vanner (and Roseanne) and Bob (and Sue) again well done guys for making the trip up North =D> =D> .One thing about the Club meets is how many people attend who dont know about the Forum side of the Club needless to say the Peeps that frequent the Forum tried their best to recruit people to make use of the Forum as its a great place to be and can only enhance their enjoyment of their Bongos.Bongos of which it was good to see quite a few of the newer hightops and a mushroom roof in attendance, really nice vehicles as time goes on they will become more and more the accepted norm after just having the Freetop and Tin Tops to look at it made a great change to have a nosey round them too!I enjoy innovation and Im impressed by what I have seen in these newer Bongos!!

Good job that DBO and I took the NW marquee with us   (two Fiammas stretched between our Bongos!) as it did come in handy to have somewhere under shelter to stand and chat on Saturday during the rain.Good to catch Cabte and Blobber on Saturday too, lovely Bongo Carl, impressed with the very rare rear tweeters Alan
The pub was also very welcome on an evening somewhere warm to socialise and do catch up with peeps you had not seen for a while, good call!! :D (Beer wasnt bad either!!  )
Cracking piccies as usual Muz no idea what I was doing to that gate :^o :^o ,why do I feel that people are now watching me with cameras primed after the plantpot incident at Bakewell #-o [-X [-X    :lol:thankfully there were none at The Cotton Arms just short cuts to take!

See ya all again soon Peeps hoping for more Sunday sunshine weather next time!! =D> =D>
Cheers
Dabs :P

Dear all

We are thrilled to see a shot of 'Valerie' on this thread - thank you. Especially as we arrived very late on Friday in the dark with the rain like stair rods and missed the turn to the rally field and ended up all on our own! Having pitched a tent for the girls, we were not about to move.

I was less delighted by the later picture posting of me in my camping red tartan PJ's!

It was our first Bongo Bash and we were made to feel very welcome - see you at the next one!

Katherine, James, Maddy, Franny and Will the Wuss

I take it yours is the black new-shape with the mushroom roof? - If so we were in the silver one on Saturday morning, waving frantically as we passed approaching Wrenbury

Glad you enjoyed the weekend

Got back this afternoon, what a great Meet.

Fantastic to catch up with old friends and make some new ones. The pub site was great, we stayed Sunday night and were asked if £4 would be OK?

Overnight stop for 2 of us, showers and loos, after 2 free nights I recon that's pretty good.

Great pics (well done Muzz), really captured the atmosphere.

After the motorway roadworks on the way up we ran all the way down the A49 to Hereford, then Monmouth, Chepstow, Old Bridge. Same time, no stress.

Look forward to seeing everyone again soon. :D :D :D
