Taking the Snowdon Railway to the top of Snowdon at the beginning of March. [-X If we have a decent winter we will be lucky if the train is able to make it half way up. [-o<

They're building a new Summit station at the mo Tony. Dunno when its finished but - worse case scenario, when we're there - the train will go as far as Clogwyn (2850ft).

Thats still pretty high up in anyones book.

I know about the new station that they are building MM, it will be great for the summer time. It depends if they have also renewed the track to something more substantial since I was up there twenty odd years ago. Then thick snow and ice prevented the train from making its way all the way to the top. Clogwyn is usually as far as it can go up in early March unless there is a mild winter.

2850ft is not high enough for me though MM. When you have been to the top over ten times nothing but the top will do. You cannot beat being at the very top on a clear winters day, then you can see around for miles in every direction, something that you remember forever.

PS: To a true mountaineer going half way up on the train is CHEATING. [-X I will go with you though as I am quite sociable when I am not drunk. 8)

This might give you a bit of an idea.

It all started here, there's a link or two to local adventures . . .

http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... &sk=t&sd=a

Tons to do if you want to & plenty at the site even if you don't & what promises to be a screamer of a crowd there to boot!!
