I think the filter would just block up quicker, much easier just to check it on your daily coolant checks

I've a converted CO2 alarm that just registers the carbon. It lives under the bonnet, hovering above the drain hole.

Whenever any carbon based matter encroaches within 15cm of the protected area I get a text message on my mobile.

Luckily, its not gone off yet, although I did have to fish out a couple of sycamore helicopters a while ago - apparently they're not carbon.


The man I bought it from says I need to buy different alarm for those.

Having been warned about this when I bought the Bongo, I am planning to install a couple more drain holes either side of the culprit. Not yet on my priority list as my Bongo is under cover, my plan is as follows.
Purchase two 12mm hose ferrules RS part no 227-5127, drill holes either side of the offending drain hole as far apart as is practical. Treat the exposed metal, recess and snug fit these ferrules with Araldite. Then using suitable poly tube, fix and route the drain.
If all three block up simultaneously at least I have tried. Lets hope it works.
