Cheers Chris. The guy at Halfords came across as competent and experienced and confirmed that switching the radio off should cut power to the dab aerial also. I explained my quirky wiring and he seemed unphased and recommended i stick with keeping it wired to the leisure battery.

I"m getting all excited about having a decent bit of kit in the Bongo. We both deserve a little treat at our age :-)

For anyone looking for similar, I saw this today...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pure-Headunit-S ... deals03-21

Seems good for the money

I was tempted but no rear usb put me off.

I was very tempted by Pure and reviews were good although interestingly, although they're tied in with Halfords, the guy there wasn't that enthusiastic. Eventually though i got suckered into spending more for better. In particular the Pure didn't store phone address book details, which seemed to me to seriously diminish ease of hands free calling. I'm seriously pleased with the Pioneer DEH-8700DAB and its unconventional controls and styling, even though it won't quite fit flush with the fascia as the Bongos dashboard support tube which sits at the back of the DIN slot prevents it. This problem has been reported before and may affect more units now as stuff like DAB could be making units longer.
