I've had my Bongo since 2005 and fitted a coolant alarm not long after Haydyn started to offer them for sale. After some time I experienced similar symptoms to those described in the original post-continual beeping for some minutes after starting from cold. Coincidentally (I now know) the problem started after the system was flushed and refilled by Bell Hill garage. I had lots of constructive emails to and from Hadyn, and Bell Hill even went so far as to drain and refill the system . The problem was cured temporarily by fitting new screws but it always returned. The replacement of screws then caused a further problem in that I was not successful in getting the screw to seal properly and there was a constant weep from the lower screw. I was thinking that I might have to buy a new expansion tank but I thought that at least as a temporary measure I would simply replace the screw with a larger one found in my box of odds and ends-probably twice the diameter, self tapper with a bolt head.
Two or possibly three years on, the temporary bolt is still in situ, the alarm works fine and the tank doesn't leak. The anti-freeze is the red version and it seems that the larger surface area of the new screw has meant that the necessary conductivity has been maintained despite whatever coating has occurred. (I'm not tempted to take the screw out to check)

Very interesting post. I've always used the old ethylene glycol type anti-freeze. I wonder if that is why my lca has never misbehaved.skyhigh123 wrote:I've had my Bongo since 2005 and fitted a coolant alarm not long after Haydyn started to offer them for sale.
