Ok, another update.

Have had the TPS replaced by Mazda and guess what - the problem is still there - so if anyone wants a used TPS that works fine let me know.

Does anybody have any more ideas about howto resolve? I am thinking of a trip to ADS in Bristol and just leaving it with them.

A new problem which has just started now the weather has got damp/cold - the Bongo "misfires" like my old mini used to for the first 10 minutes and then is ok. It has had new leads, cap, rotor arm but are probably aftermarket ones as fitted by the LPG garage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as the van is turning into a money pit and it is getting quite boring now.. :(

Thanks

Darryl

Final update and thanks to everyone for comments.

It was the TPS after all. Mazda did not realise the new one needed to be calibrated so when i mentioned it they agreed to set the open and closed voltage and hey presto - runs like a dream.

The miss firing in the damp was caused by the LPG garage only replacing 4 of the 6 leads because the other two broke taking them out of the packet!! I have now had a refund from them and paid £167 for genuine mazda ones, plus fitting time. The base idle also needed adjusting which they kindly sorted out of for me. =D>

Bongo now runs like new and is a lot smoother so thanks to Newport Mazda for persisting.

What is disappointing is the garage in Cardiff saying i needed a new gearbox and not even checking the TPS, but lesson learned and shared with others.

Glad to hear its all now resolved ! Its such a shame however that most of the problems were avoidable and caused by the garages themselves by just not paying attention to the quality of their work :-(

Hi Darryl,

I Am very surprised that a Mazda Technician would fit a TPS and not adjust the final position.

Glad you finally got it sorted.

Cheers.
