Bongo Fury

Hi,

Really usefull thread - got exactly the same problem as you - had a fill of the system and its leaking greeny fluid from the same pipe unions as you (& I can see it fizzing out of one of the metal feeder pipes - so know I've got a leak there).

Can you tell me if you replaced just the rear evaporator or did you just replace the whole lot, housing and all for ease? Also, what Ford O-ring fitted the rear union?

My Bongo has pretty much bankrupted me, so aircon bliss will have to wait till next summer now!

I got the rear evap unit replaced. It seems that above the pipe unions you can see I had some corrosion. I would have done it myself, apart from the re-gassing but the whole plastic housing that the evap sits in has to come out and that meant undoing the rear small rad as well.

As I was not too confident with the whole bleeding the coolant thing (until the video was made, I would have tackled it) I got a Bongo local garage to do it. I was told that the coolant would be replaced, or I asked for it anyway but I'm pretty sure it wasn't done as I have a greeny/blue coolant and they said they used a pinkish one.

Anyway it all seems good so far so a coolant refresh is on the cards at some point and at least I got to understand how it all comes apart which is good. Takes about 10-15 mins to get to the offending article.

The 'O' rings were matched up by eye and he charged me £1 for each one .Tbh I found some in the local hardware store for about 15p each which would have done the job and there didn't look much wrong with the old ones if truth be told but I guess it won't hurt to change them.
