I agree with Haydn totally. I should have made it clearer that I wouldn't cut the wire had I done the installation again. - Might get it amended.
But I do say to get the correct tool for the job if you are going to use conduit. I felt that conduit was a good way of protecting the wire in the engine compartment, especially with the heat and the risk of damaging the wire during maintenance. You can get 5m of split conduit from ebay for about £3.80 including postage. If I did it again, I would fit the wire into the conduit before routing it through.
