How to monitor how much charge in LB

Don't forget that the digital voltmeter has to get its own function and display power from somewhere.

I can't comment on how much the ones under dicussion consume, but I have certainly had some digital multimeters that nosh through batteries and some cheaper ones compromise the accuracy of the readout as the supply voltage drops.

In one case I was surprised to see the indicated voltage slowly clicking up through the digits (the battery under test had not just been used to supply a load from which it might have been recovering).

All batteries self discharge to some extent but a lead/acid one in good condition would take a very long time.

How noticeable the rate of drop is will, of course, depend on how many significant figures there are in the readout.

I have one of DBO's LCD gauges in my bongo...No unwanted battery drain as the gauge is only switched on via the toggle switch when it's required. The readout on the gauge has always been pretty much the same as when tested via a voltmeter. It looks neat too, lights up blue like my dials/clock.
