Don't forget that the digital voltmeter has to get its own function and display power from somewhere.
I can't comment on how much the ones under dicussion consume, but I have certainly had some digital multimeters that nosh through batteries and some cheaper ones compromise the accuracy of the readout as the supply voltage drops.
In one case I was surprised to see the indicated voltage slowly clicking up through the digits (the battery under test had not just been used to supply a load from which it might have been recovering).
All batteries self discharge to some extent but a lead/acid one in good condition would take a very long time.
How noticeable the rate of drop is will, of course, depend on how many significant figures there are in the readout.
