No Mike - he means that, on the normal Bongo radiator, there isn't an overflow pipe, so the coolant can't go anywhere even if the pressure cap releases.

Which is why it only needs a blanking cap - like other cars.

But no doubt those clever engineers at Mazda had a good reason to specify fitment of a non-functional pressure cap.

They just took it out of a huge parts bin because it was the right size.
Just like 101 other things on the car.
Just like Seat cars have Audi aircon fittings, and the Rover 75 had BMW branded wheel nuts.
Bongos are made from Ford Sierra leftovers.
That's where the lovely green lights on the dials came from anyway

Ah - gotcha. Thanks chaps. Its been that long (30 yrs, on my old MG Magnette) since I looked at a radiator cap and overflow I'd forgotten how they worked. Its coming back to me now through the mists of time.

Only problem was you needed to do just that at regular intervals. Only kidding - in fact my 1958 Magnette was reliability itself for the 5 yrs I had it and the many miles (by the standard of those days) I did in it

I think it is because the header tank and engine cooling system is effectively isolated from the radiator until the thermostat opens.

Not sure how the water in the rad would boil up on its own though. Mental car!

Well its Thursday, late, and i still haven't received my hose (ordered Saturday). You can only e-mail the supplier, which i have done and guess what. No reply! Three days later. Even if he's on holiday he could have bloody mentioned it on his web site.

I've just finished working. Its pitch black outside and, "me Bongo no wanna Bongo". Oh and we've got the Bongo Bash next Wednesday.

Anybody know of a company who can supply me a hose next day delivery? Please.

The only time "my bongo wanna bongo" is when it's drinking fuel !

Wondered where you had got to while all this chat was going on.

Not sure about next day, but pretty swift http://www.bongobits.co.uk who are in Plymouth. Not sure if they've got what you want either, for that matter, but maybe worth a call.
