just took a wild guess, I can only find 1 welly tho...think the sheep ate the last one (dont ask) surely being a fellow cumbrian (although am actually a lutonion) (20 years ago) should give me a laal birro slack?

   I have six(grandkids) from 13 right down to 10 months + Keith.- no wonder i look so haggard - The one i,m thinking of bringing is 4 and scared of the dark but with hookup we can fix him a light - he's an early riser though - 5.15 am last weekend (bless) so I'm relying on all you bongo kids to wear him out - either that or am putting boulders in his wellys.

Ah so at least you're used to sheep then :?: :!: The ceromony should be easy for you then. I dont want to give too much away but I need to check that you can swim? I'm not sure whether I can class you as a fellow Cumbrian though cos I think you have to have lived here more than 20 years before you qualify, so no slack will be given [-X

For a walk with view I'd suggest Gummers Howe at the south end of Lake Windermere.
Amazing views across Windermere to the high fells. Walk can be extended using the many local footpaths.

Walk up/down from the Forestry carpark on the Newby Bridge (Fell Foot Country Park) to Bowland Bridge road then head off to Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank (towards Bowland bridge) for refreshments.

cheers

Thanks Harry - knew you'd have a good suggestion. What about the Langdale Pikes - is that over ambitious?

Great idea....well away from my callout area.

Depends on fitness, weather, what time you get up/leave the campsite etc. Not a half day stroll....allow at least 6 hours to do New Dungeon Gyll -Pavey Ark - Pike o Stickle - and return via Mickleden. Also allow for 30 - 45 min drive each way from Hill of Oaks

 will definitely be there sat afternoon, tried to get fri and sat off, no chance, as usual. If there's a spare patch for sat night then we'll be happy to fill it. I reckon watching us putting up the awning will be enough of an initiation... still havent had it out the bag yet!
