No you're ok Anna, we'll leave you to it - you're a techie now
Sounds like yours could be on its way Brora, as Anna says, time to check the fan to see why, before it gets worse I reckon

not so old wrote:Hi,Brorabongo,
Hubby says that ours started like that- 1st 1 didn't work 2nd didn't work then 3rd didn't work. It probably is the resistor, but it is what is causing the resistor to blow, that needs checking- ie: Fan sticking in water or muck, bearing etc.
Hope I got it right, I'm just learning about techni things- Guys will be along soon.
Cheers Anna
Cheers Girls.
Looks like I'll be whipping it out then........ that is the resistor and fan of course.
Both where replaced by myself with second hand units straight after getting the Bongo, (two years this coming Feburary) and after seeing plenty of posts about it since, and thanks to the pics from DBO in this thread, I feel that it's worth a shot at repairing them this time, instead of replacing.
Now, where did I put that soldering iron.

Too late to go for it tonight!!
I know its an easy job to get to the offending parts, *drawing air in through my teeth sharply*........... but I think it may take me a whole afternoon to fix.

(which will equal more "Brownie points" for me.)

Job done.

.....at last!!!!
I wish I had this info when I first got the bongo, and parted with money for a replacement resistor.

Whats even worse, I threw the old one away!!!
The jobs so easy. ( even easier than replacing Starter contacts!!

) The only specialist tool required is a soldering iron, and they are not expensive....

Oh and a wee bit of solder helps. I used a small terminal /watchmakers screwdriver(flat blade) to push the tags together for releasing, and again to push apart once done. The metal tags are soft so it's easy enough.
Just one leg of the resistor had come away...
Thanks again for the photos DBO.
