Re: Snowdonia In Springtime.
Hmmm. Had the call back.
Initially told no chance, after discussing the virtues of 4wd & assurances that we are (on the whole) responsible grown ups & will do as little damage as possible to the site field, we've been allowed 10/15 on site for that weekend.
2 ways to go here. Either split it, having our main get together at the pub on the saturday, leaving some to wobble back to the other site a mile away or, I'll book Bryn Gloch for us all & we'll play it by ear.
1st I need a clear idea of numbers. less than about 18, we can blag it at the pub. More than 20 means we shift up the road. Not a problem by any means but its nice to have all the beasts together. Its a herding instinct thing. At the moment its 9 confirmed & 4 possibles.
Any thoughts gang?

Re: Snowdonia In Springtime.
On the basis of the weekend just gone, I'd go for Bryn Gloch every time. There is a bus along that road, no idea on timings though.
Put us in for the meet, whichever site you choose we'll go for it - So that's one van and two (on the whole) responsible adults and two (on the whole) juvenile delinquents
On your initial post, "Walk up Snowdon & get the train down" - we were more thinking along the lines of getting the train up, having a mooch around, harass the locals with a St. George flag, then walk down

Re: Snowdonia In Springtime.
count us as possibles too - two irresponsible adults
i keep trying to learn welsh not easy but beautiful when spoken in full flow - think of it as being abroad on an exotic foreign holiday in the sun.
I was thinking more get the train up snowden - mooch around a bit or if its shrouded in mist like it was last time i went there -stand absolutely still and dont move an inch- then get the train down again.

Sorry to be a part pooper but the Snowdon web site for this year anyway says :
Operating Days – Weather permitting trains run every day from the 15th March
2008 to the first week of November inclusive. From the 15th March to early
May, trains will terminate at either Clogwyn or Rocky Valley. The Summit
station is usually the destination between early May and the end of October
(subject to completion of construction work).
which means it only goes 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up. As it has been doing this year due to the new cafe that has been built. With this in mind it would be definitely best going up on the train and weather permitting then continue to the summit. Be warned though there is a section that is very steep 3/4 of the way up, despite it being named the tourist path. Its well worth doing though.

Checked duties, weekend off ,so count us in,with Hook up please, whichever site is decided on. Although i think there will be more than 20 wanting to go,so i think we will be at the big one,and i agree with Muz,and its more practical too.
We can always invade the pub in the evening,id be happy to be one of tha taxis if reqd

You can put me down as a defilnate - preferably with hook up please. I agree I would go for the bigger site then we are more likely to get more people and we can always go to the pub during the day or evening.
I shall tell hubby mc we are going for our anniversary if he gives me aby hassle over this one as its our anniversary on the Thursday.

Brian........hes still not 100% onside with camping so he`ll welcome any ideas to improve the experience.
Brian
Much as he enjoys the crowd his idea of improving the experience tends to be staying at home
