Its ok we are bringing the dry weather from Blackpool

It looks like the weather should be OK for Saturday now and Sunday too. Lets hope so.

The rain and wind did not put us off at all.....
Even when my little one came down with a bug and started throwing up at 11pm last night...and it got worse...both ends...I was throwing sleeping bags, coats, blankets out of the bongo and up most the night.....we were determined to stay today and chatted to some nice people, but by 3pm today the little one had only managed a little walk and was flat out asleep again so decided it was best to head for home....me crying ....and when we got back spending hours washing the bongo seats....and clothes...and urghhhhh....
What a first trip!

This was a great meeting, varied weather but great company. We started with a brief visit to see my Dad in Deganwy, apparently they were really proud of their new car



Then on to the Bryn Gloch caravan park, excellent site with amazing facilities. Not only does every pitch have electric, but it also has water as well!

There were some Bongos there.......

On Saturday afternoon we decided to walk into Waunfawr to the Snowdonia Park brewpub, to sample their beer and see what the food was like. A pleasant walk and we just got there before the rain started again.

Rather than be boring and walk back, we took the train from Waunfawr to Plas y Nant, with a view to walking back from there. For the sad train people amongst you, this was a 2-6-2+2-6-2 Beyer Peacock Garratt locomotive built in Manchester and operated in South Africa before being brought back to Britain – basically two locomotives articulated together and operated from a single boiler – necessary to get sufficient power onto the track with a big locomotive but able to negotiate tight turns. These were probably the most powerful 2’ gauge locos ever built....

Apparently it had been raining a lot recently.....

We drifted back via Bala lake, not the most logical route but a pretty one nonetheless.









All-in-all, a cracking weekend which we would readily do again, Mister Monkey

Hi we enjoyed the Welch Bash, many thanks to Ian for organising this. Lovely to speak to new people, especially Eileen, and Pop and Marianne, Richard and Margaret. Well Friday we got soaked. Hell of a job to even get the awning up. Broke the bottom part of one of the Khyam legs. Thank you Mr Maynard for the loan of your gaffer tape. Sat in bongo with a puzzle book and a bottle of wine. Saturday morning lovely weather so set of to pub with family Muz.

Walked to the local pub, nice food. Came back on a train. Then a walk back to the camp, everywhere was a little bit wet.

Mrs Muz had made us all a lovely warm supper. Thank you Alison, it was delicious and very welcome after the wet weather.
Sunday was glorious. We took our time with breakfast and packing up and then followed family Muz on some interesting roads, to see Bala. It had been a long time since we had visited Wales and we really enjoyed the drive. Then the compulsory ice-cream and home. Loved every minute, when's the next one?

Anyone looking for that classic dipply-dopply road in the middle of nowhere where you are most unlikely to meet any other traffic whatsoever should consider the road we took, it's the unclassified road between the A470 and A494 (not the A4212) which arrives at the south end of Bala lake. The idea of cattle-grids hasn't progressed to this community, there were at least six gates to negotiate (which we did fasten each time).

Google Maps doesn't recognise the place name, but if you paste Ffridd Trawsgoed into http://www.streetmap.co.uk you can see where it is. Take your time, there's no rush up there!

Great pikkies everyone. Shame about the rain which rather spoiled the walk about. If we didn't say much to some - solly- maybe next time. But we met some great people. Shot of us next to the loos is great - shows we pitched in a hurry. But great weekend.
